Your next dance floor starts here

A new home for Afro house, amapiano, Afrobeats and deep house around the Bay. Here's how to use it.

Afro Weekend — Bay Area dance culture

Amapiano in Oakland. Afro house in San Francisco. The deep house night that turns into a whole weekend.

Afro Weekend is a place to find your next dance floor. We're starting with San Francisco and Oakland, with selected nights elsewhere in the Bay. The music comes first: Afrobeats, amapiano, Afro house, deep house, and their close neighbors.

Find the night, keep the details

Open the calendar, choose your city or sound, and follow a listing to its original source. Each card keeps the practical details close: when, where, price, and age policy—when the source actually provides them.

Unknown means unknown. A missing price isn't a free ticket. A recurring party isn't a confirmed date. And an event being listed doesn't mean tickets are still available.

A calendar with receipts

We collect accessible public pages and feeds, starting with 19hz and Eventbrite's public listings. Every event links back to its source. You can see when we last collected it, and inspect which sources are automated, blocked, or still need a human check.

Instagram announcements remain a gap. Some of the Bay's most important promoters publish there first, so the calendar will never pretend that an automated scrape sees everything.

Read it like a little magazine

The weekly preview brings the calendar into a short, readable edition. These automatic previews are clearly labeled; they aren't editorial recommendations or AI-written summaries. Longer notes, scene guides, and photographs can live here as Markdown articles.

See you out there.
